I received word today that a great man, a Chapel Hill icon passed away.
http://www.newsobserver.com/smedia/2007/11/13/02/387-reg-1793327-1153357
Easily recognizable, Marty could be seen pushing a lawnmower with his chest (while rubberneckers slowed traffic down).

I met him when I worked at Applebee's in the early 90s. He was the handyman, and always available to help out--in fact, he was more helpful than many of the able-bodied people I knew.
He was soft-spoken, kind and had a wonderful sense of humor.

You will be missed, Marty. Shake feet with St. Peter when you get there.
